What to do in West Michigan this weekend (July 13-14)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It’s another busy weekend here in West Michigan. From a medieval mashup to a festival on the water, there’s plenty to do.

Cascade Firefighters Association Charity Hockey Game
Firefighters, along with current and former professionals, will take to the ice for a good cause on Saturday. The Cascade Firefighters Association’s annual charity hockey game will be held at the Patterson Ice Center and will benefit Riding for Ryan, Brody’s Be Cafe and the Cascade Firefighters Association. It starts at 4 p.m. with a party in the parking lot and the puck drops at 6 p.m. For more information, click here.

Knights of the Realm Weekend
It’s a mini Renaissance festival with knights in shining armor at Nelis’ Dutch Village in Holland on Saturday and Sunday for the 6th annual Knight of the Realm Weekend. Events include live armor battles and the Pirate Balloon Battle. You can also go to the Knight School to learn sword fighting. Find tickets and more here.

Macatawa Waterproof
While in Holland, you can check out the Macatawa Water Festival hosted by the Outdoor Discovery Center. The one-day event takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Windmill Island Gardens. Immerse yourself in a world of fun and learning about the West Michigan Watershed with over 20 community partners offering exciting activities like kayaking, biking, live animal encounters, games and more. The Lowell Riverwalk Festival
The Riverwalk Festival takes place all day Saturday in historic downtown Lowell. There’s plenty to see including live music, the Riverwalk Market, vintage cars, a pinewood derby, a kids’ area, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and more. For the full schedule, visit riverwalkfestival.org.
