The Retired RN Club of Manatee-Sarasota resumes lunch

Attention all retired nurses.

The Retired RN Club of Manatee-Sarasota wants you!

Beginning September 9, the club will again host a luncheon on the first Monday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at Westminster Manor, 1700 21st Ave. W., Bradenton.

Each luncheon will feature a special guest speaker and you will have company from your fellow nurses. The club also supports an endowment that provides scholarships for nursing students at the State College of Florida.

· The Fourth of July was particularly significant for Kimberly And Trey Andricksthe son called Reece’s new little brother, Blake.

· Congratulations, Senior Ranger Jerry Miller. His passion for conservation, land preservation and protecting native wildlife at Duette Preserve earned him the award as Manatee County’s July Employee of the Month.

· Betty Jean Swofford Evans is 103 years young.

· The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has just recognized several more individuals for the extraordinary length of their careers of service to the agency and the community. They are Records Director Sharon Chasteen (35 years old) and clerk of the False Alarm Reduction Unit Lesleigh Johnson (35) and Sgt. John Sutton (30) and Telecommunications Specialist for Public Safety II Gayle Sinkler (30).

· Gail Hedrick is 39. Again.

· This is also Darcie Duncan.

· And congratulations to James Hobert Lawson.

A 1957 graduate of Manatee County High School, he will be inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Honor on October 17.

Supervised by trainers such as Wheeler Leeth and George StraussLawson was a member of the 1955 Western Conference Championship-winning football team and also held the national record in the low hurdles (20.2) for the Hurricanes track and field team in 1956.

Lawson had a 36-year career as a lineman at Florida Power & Light.

He and his wife Joyce have been married for 67 years.

· Mack Doss is 77.

· And last but not least, the 14th annual Manatee PAL Golf Classic, a major fundraiser for this important nonprofit, will be held on Monday, November 4.
