Watch Coldplay debut new song “Good Feelings” on stage in Rome

Coldplay performed their new song “Good Feelings” at a show in Rome on Friday night (July 12) – you can watch footage of the performance below.

The show took place at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital and was the first of four shows at the venue.

Towards the end of a set packed with the band’s best-known songs, the band launched into the upbeat, bouncy “Good Feelings,” which was part of one of their setlists for the first time ever. Watch fan-shot footage of the song here:

Rolling Stone reports that “Good Feelings” was originally intended as a collaboration with the Chainsmokers for “Music Of The Spheres” in 2021, but will now likely appear on “Moon Music” with vocals from Ayra Starr.

It follows the band’s current single “feelslikeimfallinginlove”, which they released last month as the first taste of their upcoming album “Moon Music”. The video for that song has now been released and you can watch it here. The album is set to be released on October 4th and you can pre-order it here.

It remains uncertain whether this album will be Coldplay’s last, as the band had previously hinted that they would stop releasing albums in 2025. This rumor first surfaced in 2021, when they told Jo Whiley that their time of writing new material was at an end.

Frontman Chris Martin then expressed a similar opinion with NME the same year, when he talked about how “intense” it can be to keep releasing new material.

“We’re going to make 12 albums. Because it’s a lot of work to put everything into them. I love it and it’s great, but it’s also very intense,” he said. “I feel like because I know the challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like ‘This is what we’re meant to do.'”

The band played a triumphant headlining gig at Glastonbury last month. In a four-star review NME Martin’s words about the festival were noted: “I look around and see so many incredibly wonderful people from everywhere and that is what makes Glastonbury the best town in the world in my opinion,” he said, paying tribute to “the most peace-loving, lovely people” who make up the Glastonbury population. He admitted that Coldplay had “stolen so much of the ethos of the vision of Glastonbury” and as a result had become “a band of 100,004 people.”

He continued: “Will Coldplay top Glasto again? Five more times? Who knows? Martin announced a few years ago that the band plans to stop making music in 2025, saying NME They planned to record 12 albums; now number 10, ‘Moon Music’, is coming in October. The future is a question mark, but tonight was a good attempt to make history with a set that felt like home.”

Michael J. Fox also reacted to what he described as a “fucking amazing” performance during Coldplay’s headlining set at Glastonbury.

Fox was a surprise guest during the encore on a night that also saw the band bring along a number of guests including Little Simz, Femi Kuti, Victoria Canal and Laura Mvula.
