Gracie Abrams shares video of Taylor Swift putting out a fire

Honey, everything is burning – but Taylor Swift can put it out.

In a video shared by Gracie Abrams to celebrate their new collaboration, Us, the “Down Bad” singer fumbles with a fire extinguisher before successfully putting out the flames, saying she doesn’t think the kitchen is worth burning down.

“Writing this entire song from 2am to 6am was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,” Abrams wrote on Instagram. “Now we know how to use a fire extinguisher.”

In the video, Swift is seen confused by a small flame on a kitchen counter. “What am I supposed to do about it?” she asks, holding a fire extinguisher. “I think we’re going to die!” she jokes.

Swift eventually gets the fire extinguisher to eject a torrent of flame retardant, and she and Abrams are both surprised by the sudden power of the device spraying everything. “Our purses are ruined, and my shoes, and I think the whole room,” Swift says of the items lying on the counter.

Fittingly, “Us” features fiery lyrics that reflect the duo’s nighttime misadventure (they’re literally singing about flames—whether the song itself is fire is up to you to decide). “And if the story is clear, flames always end in ashes/And what seemed like fate, give it ten months and you’re over,” Swift and Abrams sing in the song’s chorus.

“Us” is the fifth track on Abrams’ second album The secrets of us (no connection to Swift’s “The Story of Us”), which was released on Friday. Both of the singer’s LPs were produced and co-written almost entirely by Aaron Dessner, the national instrumentalist who worked with Swift on folklore, AlwaysAnd The “Tortured Poets” sectionJack Antonoff, with whom he also worked on Swift, was also involved in producing “We”.

In an interview with Weekly entertainmentAbrams mentioned her excitement about collaborating with Swift. “When I was little, I always pretended that (writing with Swift) was happening, like I was an imaginary friend in my head,” she said. “(The fact) that we have something tangible that we’ve done together that I personally love so damn much is beyond me.”

Abrams, the daughter of filmmaker JJ Abrams, opened for Swift at 17 shows during the North American leg of the Eras Tour last year and will double that number when the “Fortnight” singer returns to the States in late 2024.

Abrams also said EW that the impending return to the Eras stage motivated her to perfect her second album. “I think knowing that we have more Eras dates this year was also a real driving force for wanting to do something that just had a chance to explode a little bit more for the audience,” she said. “I wanted them to really feel even more electrified by my set.”
