Why The 1% Club isn’t on tonight as ITV takes the quiz show off its schedule

The 1% Club has been abruptly de-scheduled and cancelled, leaving viewers asking: “What are we going to watch?” This Saturday, ITV will broadcast Casino Royale, the mid-2000s James Bond classic starring Daniel Craig, followed by the ITV News at 10.40pm after the film – which starts at 8pm – finishes.

It’ll be Alright on the Night airs at 11pm, meaning there’s no room for Britain’s Got Talent or The 1% Club.

This comes as the BBC broadcasts a film-length Eurovision Song Contest marathon from 8pm to midnight, with the UK competing against countries such as France, Croatia, Ireland and more in Sweden.

Contestants from countries across Europe and beyond will perform original songs live, with each country awarding points to determine the winner. The BBC is covering the 68th annual Eurovision Song Contest live from the Malmo Arena in Sweden – the 50th time since the country’s most famous music export, Abba, won the trophy with Waterloo, making them the most successful Eurovision act of all time.

The show will be hosted by Hollywood actress Malin Akerman and Eurovision veteran Petra Mede, with the ever-present BBC commentary from Graham Norton. He will no doubt support British entrant Olly Alexander with his song Dizzy and Irish band Bambie Thug.

The official Twitter account for ITV’s The 1% Club announced the break, saying: “Thanks for watching. WE LOVE PLAYING WITH EVERYONE. No show next week, then it’s back on. See you soon #The1PercentClub.”

When a follower raised the question, he wondered, “What should I watch instead?” to which Trey responded dramatically, “WHAT?”

Alex chimed in with a dejected “Oh man.” And another fan lamented: “No! What are we supposed to watch?” ITV The 1% Club episodes can be viewed via the ITV Hub.
