The film “UNDIVIDE US,” about the power of civil debate, is scheduled to be screened in Salida on July 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It is part of a nationwide initiative that brings together local news organizations and communities.

Ark Valley Voice And Rocky Mountain PBS are proud to present a screening of “Undivide Us” on Thursday, July 25th at the Salida SteamPlant Ballroom, 220 W Sackett Ave, Salida. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the screening begins at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the film’s director and a discussion led by Dr. Martin Carcasson, founder and director of the Center for Public Deliberation at Colorado State University. His research focuses on helping local communities address disparities through improved public communication, collaborative problem solving, and shared decision making.

Admission to the screenings is free, but donations are possible to Ark Valley Voice (which is currently running its major “Christmas in July” fundraiser to help fund our reporters for the upcoming election season) or Rocky Mountain PBS. Reservations are required.

Undivided Us is a film that challenges the notion that citizens who disagree are incapable of civilized conversation, and reveals the truth that, despite our differences, the American experiment is still alive and well.

Above the Noise is a statewide initiative led by Rocky Mountain Public Media in partnership with the Colorado Press Association, Colorado Media Project and CSU. It brings together a local network of media outlets to strengthen Colorado by listening carefully to the experiences of the people who live here. Salida is one of the few communities where the film’s director will be present at the screening and available to answer questions after the screening.
