Phillip Wright, three-star WR, commits to Michigan Football for 2025

Another official visit from the Michigan football team in June was converted into a commitment.

Phillip Wright, a three-star Class of 2025 wide receiver from Destrehan, Louisiana, committed to the Wolverines on Saturday, beating out a slew of Division I stars including Baylor, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami (Florida), LSU and Texas A&M. The Tigers and Bulldogs were the final contenders alongside the Wolverines.

Wright, who took an official visit to Ann Arbor on June 14 between stops at Baylor, Georgia and Georgia Tech, is considered the most promising player in Louisiana, the 33rd-ranked athlete in the country and the 534th-ranked player in his class overall, according to 247 Sports’ rankings.

Wright is 6’1″ and weighs 165 pounds, so he has a smaller frame, but he makes up for it with exceptional speed. As a junior, Wright ran the 100 yards in 10.46 seconds and the 200 in 20.89 seconds, qualifying him for the Louisiana All-State meet in each of his three high school seasons.

Wright is now the second wide receiver committed to head coach Sherrone Moore and wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy for the class of 2025. He joins four-star Jacob Washington (Marrero, Louisiana), who plays at Bellamy’s alma mater just outside New Orleans, just over 20 miles east of Destrehan.

UM’s class of 2025 got off to a slow start, but after landing 12 prospects since early June, Moore and his team are now closer to completing the class, which currently has 16 commitments and is ranked 12th in the nation according to 247 Sports.
