Around 6,000 primary school children have recorded a song to congratulate the British national team as the athletes prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris.

‘Let’s Go’, an original hymn by local writers Jools Scott and Sue Curtis, was recorded as a musical relay at 36 school assemblies in Bath, Northeast Somerset and Wiltshire.

The Voices for Life relay was launched in October 2023 with the support of Team Bath, when 150 primary school children sang together at Twerton Park, the home of Bath City Football.

“Voices for Life helped me find my voice. When I sing, I feel like I am the music,” said eight-year-old Luca.

“A light on talent”

The end of the relay was marked by the release of a Let’s Go music video featuring footage from each school assembly.

The aim was to congratulate the British team for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games.

Now in its fourth year, Bath-based charity Voices for Life envisions a world where all children can find their voice through music and promote wellbeing in their community.

Voices for Life founder Tessa Armstrong told BBC Radio Somerset: “It’s all these little insights into her personality that make it so special.

“It’s not perfect and that’s the point; it’s their enthusiasm, it’s their voices.

“It was hard work to get this off the ground, but seeing the result was worth it.”

Each performance was accompanied by the Olympic torch from the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Deborah Hale MBE, Trustee of Voices for Life and Producer of the original 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, said: “We wanted to shine a light on young talent by bringing communities together to cheer on our amazing athletes.”
