The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley has announced for 2023

On Monday, the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita announced its Zontian of the Year for all his hard work and contributions

Nicole Miller was presented with the 2024 Zontian of the Year award at the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s 2024-26 Officers Inauguration on May 20.

This award recognizes Miller’s significant contributions to the cause of “A Better World for Women and Girls.”

“Increase in membership and growth of our service projects in Zontas High School Z Clubs and the Golden Z Club of the College of the Canyons (COC),” Miller said of the accomplishment that gave her the most satisfaction.

Miller served as president for three years; her first year was still a pandemic with Zoom meetings, officials said.

In-person meetings were held over the next two years, and her leadership enabled her to help nearly double the club’s membership during that time.

Membership now numbers over 70 local female leaders and the quality of these new members, their commitment to leadership, their talents and their dedication is impressive.

Miller’s goal was to recruit a diverse group of active business and volunteer leaders willing to contribute to the SCV community through Zonta.

Miller has achieved her goal and now these new members are actively serving the club Projects, committee chairs or participation in the newly installed Zonta boards for the years 2024 to 2026 Club and the Zonta Club Foundation.

When nominating Miller for this prestigious award, one member noted that she was “extremely impressed with the level of knowledge she had about the strengths and expertise of each of the more than 30 new members.”

Miller was involved in the founding of the Golden Z Club in the COC and a new Z Club in Castaic High School as accompaniment to the Golden Valley High, Canyon High and West Ranch High Z Clubs.

Miller was very active in the clubs as they came together at joint leadership retreats and events in August 2023 and February 2024 to pursue leadership and service opportunities.

The focus of the retreat was to strengthen connections between the four clubs (Castaic High joined later) as they planned their first community-wide service project together.

As its first service project, the COC Golden Z Club co-sponsored the COC Community Resource Fair in April; over 30 nonprofit organizations participated to showcase their missions and projects to the community.

Miller was recently elected Vice Governor of Zonta’s District 9, which consists of five western States and served as District 9 Chair for Z Clubs and Golden Z Clubs. She also volunteers as Board Chair for Santa Clarita Valley International (SCVi) School.
