World-famous actress spotted at Snow Patrol performance in Limerick

After “Dancing in the Dark” with Bruce Springsteen, she rose to stardom, and on Friday night actress Courteney Cox added an extra layer of summer magic to Limerick.

The “Friends” star was among the thousands who swung their hips and sang along to hits like “Run” and “Chasing Cars” at the Snow Patrol concert in the Treaty City.

Well-informed sources confirmed to Limerick Live that the actress, who rose to international fame in the acting world through her portrayal of Monica Geller in the NBC sitcom “Friends,” was in attendance.

The American has been in a relationship with Snow Patrol musician and Derry man Johnny McDaid for over a decade.

Her surprise appearance at the Limerick gig caused even more excitement among the band’s fans who came to the show – some of them even had their photo taken with the star.

The Snow Patrol concert is the first of three major line-ups at Thomond Park this weekend. Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini will bring his ‘New Shoes’ to the stadium today, Saturday, followed by rock bad boy Liam Gallagher on Sunday night.

Around 100,000 people are expected to attend the three concerts at Munster Rugby’s home stadium.

And if the reaction of Snow Patrol fans to Friday night’s concert is anything to go by, fans of Nutini and the Oasis frontman are in for a treat.

“I had a great night at Snow Patrol, it was great to see these concerts in the city,” wrote one concertgoer on Facebook.

“Keep up the good work Thomond Park. Well done. Great concert and setup,” wrote another.

“They were fantastic, as were Kingfishr,” added another, referring to the opening act from Limerick.
