The masked singerRITV’s singing competition, is back to transform a nation of viewers into sofa detectives.

The show is once again presented by comedian Joel Dommett and features twelve mysterious celebrities singing well-known tunes on stage while wearing costumes that conceal their identities.

The judges Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross guess together with the audience in the studio and the viewers at home.

This year’s participants hope to join previous ones Masked Singer Great Britain Winners include Nicola Roberts, Joss Stone, Natalie Imbruglia and Charlie Simpson.

One of the hopefuls is disguised as rat – here’s what we know about her so far…

In an ITV press kit released ahead of the series, Rat said: “The nervousness I had The Masked Singer are the worst nerves I’ve ever had in my life.”

At Rat’s second performance on Saturday (January 13), she sang the Toy Dolls song “Nellie the Elephant” with the help of some insect-like friends in tutus and, of course, Nellie.

Rat made many insinuations in her pre-recorded video package, saying that “rodents like to hang out with others.” The jury interpreted this as a hint that she may be part of a girl group.

Jonathan Ross suggested that Rat’s Liverpool accent might be fake, especially considering it was not heard during their performance that evening.

There were several indications of Doctor Whowith Rat saying, “Tell you what, Doc, I’m a champion companion,” adding that they had “regenerated more than once.”

Stranger Things was also included in the video, while the theme song of the Netflix show played in the background.

Other clues seen in the clip include a T-shirt with the word “Alan” on it, a tattoo machine and a tool belt.

Although Jonathan Ross initially Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown, he ended up with Carol Smilie because she was the host of the Home Makeover Show Changing rooms.

Last year Charlie Simpson was named winner The Masked Singer UK.

The Busted star, who secretly performed as Rhino throughout the competition, rose to fame with the boy band behind the hits Year 3000 and Crashed The Wedding.

In the final he defeated the frontman of the Kaiser Chiefs, Ricky Wilson, who was dressed as Phoenix.

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts won the first season of The Masked Singer disguised as a queen bee.

The Masked Singer will be broadcast on Saturday evenings on ITV, with the final expected to take place in February.
