Will Smith at Andrea Bocelli’s 30th anniversary concert

Andrea Bocelli is going to freak out about this.

Will Smith is new in the cast of Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration in Tuscany. The three-day event will take place on July 15, 17 and 19 at the Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico, Bocelli’s hometown. There is no information yet on what capacity the Fresh Prince will participate in – Weekly entertainment has reached out to Smith’s representative for clarification, but a spokesperson for the concert was unable to provide further details.

If you haven’t booked a flight to Tuscany to see Big Willie and the Italian tenor in concert, don’t worry – the concert will be filmed by director Sam Wrench, the filmmaker behind Taylor Swift’s The Epoch Tour Documentary. His documentary about the performances is scheduled to be released in the fall by Fathom Events.

The star-studded event will also feature performances by Shania Twain, Ed Sheeran, Russell Crowe, Jon Batiste, Sofía Vergara, Christian Nodal, Katharine McPhee, Brian May of Queen and Johnny Depp.

Bocelli also announced a new joint album, Duetson Friday. The project will feature a mix of old and new duets with other well-known artists, with Twain, Karol G, Marc Anthony, Gwen Stefani and Chris Stapleton recording new songs with Bocelli. Older tracks featuring Stevie Wonder, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, McPhee and Sheeran will also be included on the album, which is out October 25.

After focusing almost exclusively on acting for the past two decades, Smith has revived his musical career with a new song, “You Can Make It,” which he performed at the BET Awards last month. The “Summertime” rapper also released “Light Em Up” featuring Sean Paul of the Bad Boys: Ride or Die Soundtrack last month and made a surprise appearance during J. Balvin’s Coachella set, where he sang “Men in Black” in a full Agent J outfit.

Smith’s musical ventures have been few and far between since he made his name as a movie star in the early 2000s. He had two songs on the 2019 album. Aladdin soundtrack, and he has occasionally recorded features for other artists such as Jaden Smith, Logic, Nicky Jam and Joyner Lucas. However, his last proper solo singles came 19 years ago with “Switch” and “Party Starter” from his 2005 album Lost and foundNow Smith hints that a new album may be in the works, with “You Can Make It” as the first single.
