A God of War fan’s terrible suggestion would ruin any hype surrounding the next game, and we hope Santa Monica ignores it

A God of War fan’s terrible suggestion would ruin any hype surrounding the next game, and we hope Santa Monica ignores it

God of War is one of the strongest first-party franchises under the PlayStation Studios banner. The developers have worked on the series for the past two decades and have made some interesting and creative choices to expand the lore and bridge the gaps between two different pantheons.

The gaming community has played the franchise in two different pantheons and the developers made it a point to separate the gameplay and perspective. The Nordic saga ended with Ragnarok and fans are excited to see where Kratos goes next.

Not all fan ideas are suitable for the God of War franchise

Santa Monica Studio has been working on this franchise for the past few years, making some interesting changes while moving on to the Norse saga after Kratos wiped out all the gods of Olympus.

Some fans have put forward a theory that could explain the various appearances of Kratos in different fighting games, and it suggests that these are all obstacles and Roadblocks that God of War from reaching the Nordic countries.

The franchise is in an interesting position where the developers have been able to do whatever they see fit. The original trilogy had a fixed camera position and the Norse saga introduced a new over-the-shoulder perspective to spice up the gameplay experience.

The gaming community suggests a first-person perspective for the next chapter, which is not the best idea in the world.

The developers played with this idea in previous games when Kratos fought his father Zeus, and the same viewpoint was reused in the Helheim section of the 2018 sequel.

It would be difficult for players to get used to the combat and they would likely suffer from massive headaches if they had to look through Kratos’ eyes instead of over his shoulder.

David Jaffe introduced the players play a monster and brutally fighting and killing enemies using the same line of sight could enhance the experience. Having a first-person perspective would be a nice option, but that will have serious consequences and most likely be an unpleasant experience.

Santa Monica Studio could do something creative with this spin-off idea

Atreus could be the next main character in a God of War game, and his bow mechanics could benefit from a new perspective.

The gaming community expected Atreus to be playable at some point in the Nordic saga, but his gameplay and fighting style are not the best compared to his father’s brute force. Since he relies primarily on arrows for ranged attacks and close combat, perhaps the developers could make some adjustments.

The developers also have a penchant for introducing new weapons for Kratos. Perhaps some of them could benefit from a first-person perspective as he ventures into another pantheon beyond the Nine Realms.

The end of Ragnarok and that Valhalla DLC hinted that there are more stories to tell with Kratos. Other cultures are available to the character and fans are optimistic to see Kratos in Japan.

Not all suggestions are good and the first-person perspective idea could do more harm than good. The developers should not jeopardize the franchise with experimental ideas.
