Victim of suspicious death in Grady County is remembered as a mother and caregiver

GRADY COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – Friends of a victim named in an ongoing federal death investigation in Chickasha say she was a family woman and maid.

Grady County authorities told News 4 they found a woman’s body during a medical call on Monday. The investigation is now in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation because the home is on tribal land.

News 4 confirmed through conversations with family and friends that Holly Miller, 50, of Chickasha was the victim.

Miller’s obituary states that she was born in Mangum and graduated from Oklahoma Christian University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and later a master’s degree in social work and public health.

She is described as a person who loved people and cared for others, which led her to various careers in social work, home health, hospice and senior care. Miller was the executive director of Sand Sage of the Highlands Assisted Living in Mustang at the time of her death.

News 4 reached out to her employer for comment and received the following statement from a company spokesperson:

We would like to say that we are deeply saddened by this loss and by the passing of Holly Miller. Holly was not only a leader and dedicated team member, but also a mentor and friend to our community staff and our residents. She touched the lives of many and we will miss her greatly. We ask that the entire community keep Holly and her family in their thoughts and prayers as they get through this difficult time.

Senior living in the old town

A News 4 staffer spoke with family friend Marisa White on Friday, who told News 4 she had permission from Miller’s family to speak about her.

“She just had this infectious personality that made everyone feel special and loved,” White said. “She was a wonderful person inside and out.”

According to White and her obituary, the mother of five always made time for her children at sporting and school events and cheered them on from the sidelines in everyday life.

“She is a selfless person,” White said. “She has always put herself out there for others and I believe that is where she found her true calling: helping others, especially the elderly and seniors.”

White said the news of Miller’s death was difficult for her to accept because one of her parents grew up with one of Miller’s and the two were lifelong friends.

“I found out about her death from my mom,” White said. “I immediately called my husband into our bedroom and we were both just in shock. It still feels like it’s not real and it shouldn’t be.”

White said Miller’s loss is a great tragedy for her family and community, who viewed her as a friend, mentor and woman devoted to her faith.

“The whole family is a faithful Christ-following family,” White said. “I know prayer is a powerful thing, and Holly believed in that, too, and I think it’s important to rally around the family during this time and pray for comfort and strength. And also respect their grieving process.”

White said Miller’s family is asking that monetary donations be sent to McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha if anyone would like to support them during this time. The funeral home’s contact information is below:
