  • Deadline has shared a new interview with Keri Russell about her experiences working on the revival of Disney Channel in the 1990s The Mickey Mouse Club.
  • The interview from Jesse Tyler Ferguson Dinner is on me The podcast featured the actress’s views as she grew up in the world of acting.
  • Of her exit from the show, she joked: “‘Yeah, usually girls who look sexually active have to leave.’ And I was probably one of the first. They said, ‘She’s out!’ … The guys stayed until they were 19. I said, ‘By the way, I had sex with that person, so I know they had sex.’ Seriously.”
  • Russell starred alongside Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
  • When he was cast at age 15, Russell said, “I was living in Colorado at the time… and some of my friends went to a big audition for Disney at the Denver Convention Center downtown. And I went up there and stood in line and did my little nerd dance. And they had me read a little skit, like about a mermaid brushing her teeth or something with chocolate or something silly like that. And then I just happened to get it.”
  • The actress also spoke about how to avoid the abuse child stars face: “I think the really scariest thing about child acting is that it’s usually one or two kids with all the adults,” she said. “So that really accelerates the adultness of everything. And for The Mickey Mouse Club, we were 19. The adults were invisible to me… So I wasn’t completely alone with all the adults, and I think that was helpful.”
