Major League Eating should act

… after the fraud scandal

The world of competitive eating has been rocked for the second time in as many months – this time by an alleged cheating controversy involving Nick Wehry — with Star Eater Geoff Esper tell TMZ Sports something must be done!

Earlier this week NYPost reported Wehry, husband of the 10-time mustard belt champion Miki Sudowas accused of adding a plate to his final tally at the 2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th.

At the time, NW denied the allegations, saying he had “not stolen anything.”

Now Wehry, who still maintains his innocence, has asked Major League Eating to correct his count back to 46.75 hot dogs … because he touched another plate (which is prohibited).

Esper told us he wasn’t sure if this was an admission of guilt, but it was a good first step on Nick’s part.

“There’s some video evidence, but it’s not crystal clear,” Esper told us. “You can definitely see he was doing things that weren’t normal. Look at the rest of us, look at me on video; I’m not kidding.”

Esper – the came in second place after eating 53 frankfurters – didn’t go so far as to say Wehry himself should be suspended… although he does think MLE should consider taking steps to prevent this from happening in the future.

“There have been other cases of fraud in the past,” he said. “As far as I know, there have never been any bans or anything like that. Looking at past practices, I don’t think something like that will happen, but I think something needs to be done to prevent it in the future.”

“If there is no incentive not to do it, why shouldn’t someone else do it?”

Time will tell whether MLE decides to take further steps against Wehry.

Stay tuned …
