OMAHA, Nebraska – NFM is giving away 600 free rugs to teachers in the Omaha area and the teachers are very happy about it.

• NFM’s annual teacher rug giveaway will take place on Saturday, July 13
• Doors open for teachers at 9:00 am
• 600 carpets will be given away

NFM’s annual rug giveaway for teachers is back.

I’m Greta Goede from Mrs. B’s Clearance Store, where 600 rugs are being given away.

The Teacher Rug Award was created to give something back to the teachers in the community.

Andy Schefsky, NFM’s community and public relations manager, said the store is doing this to show its appreciation to teachers.

“Teachers are such an important part of our community and when we thought about how we could give back and make teachers’ jobs so much easier by creating a much more appropriate and enjoyable learning environment for the kids, we thought this was one way we could contribute,” Schefsky said.

Savannah Dannenberg, a Montessori teacher, comes every year to receive a free rug. She says it means a lot to her because decorating her classroom is important to her but can be expensive.

“As teachers, we spend so much money on our classrooms and carpets, as you know, can be very expensive, so it’s just a nice thing for them to give back to us,” she said.

Savannah has to replace things in her classroom every school year due to wear and tear, including the free carpets, so this annual giveaway is a big deal for the teachers.

“I actually had to throw out these rugs because they wear out, and this year I can come back and get a new rug. It means a lot to the teachers. I personally love it because it helps make my classroom feel a little more like home,” Savannah said.

The teacher shopping doors open at 9am on Saturday.

In addition to the free carpets, teachers also receive a discount at NFM.
