Police file murder charges in Milwaukee man detained by security forces

Benjamin Crump, attorney for the Mitchell family:

It’s a heartbreaking video from the hotel’s security cameras. It starts with him being chased. And he’s being chased through the entire hotel.

He runs into the gift shop and then into the ladies’ room. And the two women that were in the room said he wasn’t trying to hurt them or anything. It was like he was scared, he was afraid, he was trying to get away from somebody.

We now know that it was apparently the security guards who were chasing him. And then they went into the bathroom and dragged him out. And as they did that, the video shows him being punched and kicked while he’s on the ground and being dragged. And it’s just heartbreaking.

They have a metal baton that one of the security guards pulls out, as you see in the video of the bystander. And he hits him. And it looks like he hits him on the head.

And you wonder why you would do that. It’s just heartbreaking to think that George Floyd was in that prone position for nine minutes and 29 seconds with knees on his back and on his neck. Well, D’Vontaye Mitchell was in that prone position for at least eight, we believe ten minutes, with a knee on his back and at times a knee on his neck.

And he was hit, kicked and baton-wielded, making his tragic video as outrageous as the video of George Floyd.
