Chris Hemsworth offers exciting Extraction 3 update

Chris Hemsworth has released an exciting update on Extraction 3, saying the film is currently in the works.

In the action series, Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a former Australian Special Air Service agent who changes careers and becomes a covert operations mercenary.

In the first film, which was released in 2020, Rake was in Bangladesh to track down the kidnapped son of a drug lord. The sequel takes him to Georgia, where the mercenary is hired to free the family of a crime boss from prison.

Following the success of both films, Netflix gave the green light for a third film and Hemsworth has now given an exciting update on the progress, telling Collider: “We are currently in the process of writing, preparing and finishing the film. I don’t know when we’ll start yet, but it’s in the works.”

Hemsworth had previously spoken about a particular scene from Extraction 2 in which Rake’s arm is set on fire. In an interview, the star revealed that the scene was shot without any special effects, with a flammable liquid being poured over his arm to create the look.

“They had to cover my arm with a flammable liquid, light it and then I had to go through the sequence,” he revealed, before joking: “It was a cold night so I was grateful for the warmth. Very hot.”

Off-screen, Hemsworth revealed he was at higher risk for being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and the star later clarified that he was about to take a “break” from his career.

“That experience and that show (Limitless) made me think, ‘Oh wow, none of us are invincible,'” he explained. “It kind of pulls you into the moment – you start asking bigger questions.

“You think, ‘I need to slow down and just enjoy the moment now and not let the years pass me by.’ In that respect it was positive, but it got a little overdramatized, like I might retire because of this, which is just not the case.”
