Pakistani YouTuber’s song condemning girls’ education sparks online outrage

A song by a Pakistani YouTuber condemning girls’ education has gone viral and sparked outrage among social media users. The video was uploaded by YouTuber Hafiz Hasan Iqbal Chishti a few weeks ago. In the clip, the man urged people to take their daughters out of school, pointing out that they dance there, which is considered unacceptable in Islam. He titled his song ‘Apni Dhi Schoolo Hata Le Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae (Take your daughter out of school, she was seen dancing there.)”

The controversial song is riddled with misogynistic lyrics. It suggests that people should take their daughters out of school and keep them at home unless they want to turn them into prostitutes. In the video, the singer also claims that daughters who go to school lose their sanctity and respect.

The context in which the video was created is also mentioned. It shows footage of a dance competition that was held at a school in Pakistan at the request of UNESCO. In response, the YouTuber released the song in June.

Since it was shared, the video has garnered nearly 300,000 views and over 3,000 likes. In the comments section, users condemned the caption and questioned which direction Pakistan was heading.

“I am really very sorry that Pakistan is still suffering from this kind of mentality… Shame on you and your way of thinking… And the people who are supporting him in comments are thinking of their country and their daughters,” wrote one user.

“How dare he speak so horribly about our sisters… He must be sacked… He also uses Haq Haq as background music and utters obscene words… He must be punished,” commented another.

“I am really shocked to see this nonsense man. Education is a basic right for everyone whether it is a boy or a girl and this is not necessary. Any girl who is getting an education is doing something bad. 75% of people in Pakistan are filled with this extremist mentality that’s why we are not progressing like other countries in the world. Mother is every child’s first school and she should be educated to raise a good citizen,” wrote a third user.

“I am shocked that this text is used to attack women. Shame on the people who support this. Why don’t you talk about men who also go to school… THIS IS NOT ISLAM. SHAME ON YOU,” commented a fourth user.

A YouTuber also made fun of Hafiz Hasan Iqbal Chishti’s video. He posted a video on the YouTube channel Ex-Muslim Zafar Heretic. The YouTuber condemned the song and trolled Chisti, saying, “I want to tell the songwriter that music is also haram in Islam.”
