Maren Morris releases song about the consequences of Ryan Hurd’s divorce

UPDATE 7/12/24

A month after the track’s debut on Red Rocks, Morris officially released “I Hope I Never Fall in Love.”

“‘I Hope I Never Fall in Love’ is the afterglow of a shit show. It’s a bittersweet heartbreak because I’m in self-protection mode but I still want to feel something. Throwing parties, going home with a stranger, popping champagne, whatever we have to do to process our trauma is not a pretty path to healing,” she said of the song via Instagram. “Of course I want to fall in love again but I can’t put my heart through it yet so here’s a number about this weird but constructive (and destructive) window of my life.”

Original story below:

Maren Morris debuted a new song called “I Hope I Never Fall in Love” during a concert at Red Rocks in Colorado on Tuesday, June 11 — and the lyrics give a candid insight into her feelings about love after divorce.

“When you hear the title, you’re going to think, ‘OK, bitch. Yeah, right,'” Morris, 34, told the audience. “I wrote this song with my boyfriend. Delacey. This song is called ‘I Hope I Never Fall in Love’. It’s pretty (self-explanatory).”

Six months before she hit the streets RSVP reissue Tour, Morris filed for divorce Ryan Hurd in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who were married for five years, have a 4-year-old son together, Hayes. Their divorce was finalized in December 2023, the same month she told Howard Stern she wasn’t ready to start dating again.

“I don’t have the space in my head for that yet. But I’m writing so much right now. It’s kind of my way of meeting up, just through songs,” Morris explained.

Two months later, the Grammy nominee said We weekly that after several changes in her life, including distancing herself from country music, she was “still in the early stages of finding” her new sound.

“I basically had a whole record finished and then my life imploded,” Morris said Us in February. “I’m kind of back to square one, which doesn’t scare me as much anymore because … nothing can shake me at this point. I’m in the fun phase of figuring out what that noise is.”

A few days before Morris took the stage at Red Rocks, she came out as bisexual, writing on Instagram: “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ Happy Pride 🌈.”

She celebrated the moment by dancing with a Pride flag at the end of the concert on Tuesday night.
