“How many children did you kill today?”

DETROIT – President Biden is not getting a warm welcome in the crucial swing state of Michigan as he prepares to take the stage for his first public address since his mishap-ridden “Big Boy” news conference Thursday night.

About 50 pro-Palestinian protesters gathered around the parking lot entrance of Renaissance High School in Detroit, where the 81-year-old president will speak on Friday evening.

“Biden, Biden, what are you saying? How many children have you killed today?” a woman shouted through a megaphone.

Other slogans included “No justice, no peace” and the anti-Israel slogan “From the river to the sea, all of Gaza will be free.”

The woman declined to speak to The Washington Post after passing the megaphone to another event leader to continue the attack, which attendees said will continue for “hours more” or until the president finishes his speech.

“How can people support a man who directly enables genocide?” Adam, a 44-year-old scientist from Michigan, told The Post.

“We want an immediate halt to all arms financing for Israel and a real agreement on a ceasefire.”

Adam, who kept his face hidden, said the event was organized via email by many different groups, including Project 1948 and the US Palestinian Network.

“This is not just a Palestinian problem, it is an American problem,” he said.

“It becomes an American problem when all this money disappears and homeless veterans die on our streets. I voted for this man, but now I had to show up and hold him accountable. Silence speaks now, and those who do not speak up against injustice will themselves be put on trial. One voice at a time.”

“I am here to raise awareness about genocide,” Dana, 44, told The Post.

“Today is about Biden and stopping him from funding genocide.”

Michigan has been at the center of criticism of Biden’s support for Israel, especially since the October 7 Hamas massacre that sparked the war.

In the state’s Democratic primary, the state’s large Arab-American population contributed 100,000 unaffiliated votes to send a message to the president.

“Biden, Biden, what are you saying? How many children have you killed today?” a woman shouted through a megaphone.

Groups are planning a protest on Sunday outside the state’s largest Holocaust museum, the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills.

Biden’s support for Israel already made him vulnerable before his dismal performance at last month’s debate raised questions about his mental fitness.

In other words, even if the president were 20 years younger, the Gaza war would still call his re-election into question.
