God has called singer Jordan Rowe to create “Kingdom Country” music

Singer-songwriter Jordan Rowe shares how God’s hand guided his musical career and led him to make “Kingdom Country” music.

“I started out in church, like everyone else, singing ‘Jesus Loves Me.’ That’s how I started out: singing in church and playing drums in church,” he said during his appearance on “The Matthew West Podcast.”

After years of playing in a band and attending college, Rowe decided to pursue music in Nashville. He landed a publishing deal and opened for touring artists, but COVID-19 halted everything.

“It was very hectic for a while, but then slowly but surely God brought it to an end and made me realize, ‘Hey, I’m quitting because you’re so busy that you’re not taking the time to pursue your true purpose and find out what I have for you,'” Rowe said.

He continued, “Everything just went away… the tours stopped. I mean, I couldn’t afford shows. I wasn’t getting opportunities as a touring artist… I just realized I wasn’t where God wanted me to be. He started taking away my team and closing all the doors… and he encouraged me to start Music Row Ministries.”

Music Row Ministries was a Bible study group founded by Rowe and he “saw God’s hand on it like crazy.”

However, Rowe continued to work hard to make a difference in the world of country music.

“Later that year, I started to gravitate toward what I now call ‘Kingdom Country,’ but there really wasn’t a word for it back then,” he explained. “It was just country music pointing people to Jesus.”

Rowe decided to go on a prayer fast, asking God to give him signs about whether he should give up his musical career or pursue a different direction. The day after the fast ended, Rowe was dropped by his booking agent – but soon learned that one of the songs he had written would appear on another artist’s album.

“I believe something happens when we show God in a physical way that we mean business,” he said.

Rowe continued, “I noticed this attribute of God, and it’s not in the Bible — I mean, it’s in the Bible. When you look at different stories in the Bible, you can start to see different attributes of God and how He works, and it’s like I’m right there with you. I could look at what you’re doing and I’m like, ‘You know, I bet Matthew (West) would do this in that situation’ … one of the patterns I’ve seen in the way God works throughout Scripture is that He likes to do things in a way where only He gets the credit for it. He takes the weakest army, the smallest army, the smallest man — whatever impossible circumstances are to perform these miracles that can only be traced back to Him, right? … I think that was intentional because God wanted me to know, ‘I’m the reason you got this.’ That’s it.”

“He will put you in seemingly impossible situations so that when you break through, you know it’s Him,” Rowe concluded.

Now Rowe has dedicated himself to the music of “Kingdom Country.” His latest single, “Heroes,” is “a reminder of who the ultimate hero is and it’s been special to me since the day we wrote it,” he wrote on Instagram.

In addition to his new musical success, Rowe is celebrating another milestone – he just got engaged!

“Tori has been by my side these past few years and I love her love for the Lord, her love for me, and her love for her family and friends,” he posted on Instagram. “Here’s to a lifetime together!”

Anne Wilson, another up-and-coming singer who has worked with West, also brings her confidence to country music. Movieguide® reported:

Christian artist Anne Wilson recently released her second album, “Rebel,” which combines her country and Christian roots.

“I haven’t changed. I’ve stayed true to myself and my beliefs and it’s really cool to see how it’s all come together,” she told PEOPLE about her album.

“I was hesitant at first. I said, ‘I’m not going to change myself to do country music.’ And (Nashville recording director Cindy Mabe) said, ‘We want you to be exactly who you are. We don’t want you to change anything, and we need you to bring God back into country music,'” Wilson recalled.

At just 22 years old, Wilson already received a Grammy nomination for her previous album “My Jesus” and two K-LOVE Fan Awards.
