The Yankees, 56-39, head to Baltimore 2.0 games behind the Orioles for first place in the American League East. This final series before the All-Star break will be the third between the Yanks and the O’s in the regular season — they have one more, a three-game series in the Bronx Sept. 24-26. Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Clay Holmes then head to Arlington for this year’s Midsummer Classic. DJ LeMahieu has three multiple-hit games in his last eight starts. Trent Grisham has 16 hits since June 6, eight of which have gone for extra bases. Since beginning his current stint with the Yankees, Jake Cousins has allowed two hits and struck out 13 batters in 7.2 innings.

Ben Rice has kept his momentum going after his three-home, seven-RBI game last Saturday! Since then, he’s scored four more runs, giving him a total of 16 RBIs in the first 21 games of his MLB career. He’s one of only eight players in Yankees history to have at least 16 RBIs in their first 21 major league games, joining a group that includes the popular Hideki Matsui (20) and two of the franchise’s greatest legends, Mickey Mantle (17) and Joe DiMaggio (21, the club record).
Know the enemy
Baltimore comes into this series having been swept by the Cubs in three games, although the Orioles have won eight of their last 11 games. Gunnar Henderson, who will participate in the Home Run Derby during the All-Star festivities, is having a great season with a .288 batting average, 27 home runs, 61 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Anthony Santander’s 23 home runs put him second on the team – he was named an All-Star alternate just Thursday and will therefore go to Globe Life Field as part of an Orioles team that also includes Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Jordan Westburg and Corbin Burnes. Henderson is one of three players on the team with double-digit steals, along with Cedric Mullins (16) and Jorge Mateo (13). Closer Craig Kimbrel has a 2.10 ERA this season, but in his career against the Yankees, including the postseason, Kimbrel has a 5.06 ERA in 27 appearances, including a blown save on June 19.
Possible starters
Gerrit Cole will start today’s opener against Cade Povich, who scored eight runs but managed just three outs in his last start on Saturday in Oakland. Luis Gil starts tomorrow against Grayson Rodriguez. Carlos Rodón and Dean Kremer will work out Sunday on the MLB’s final day of play before the All-Star break.

The final four matches of the regular season will be broadcast live on YES, and you can watch the first of those on Sunday night at 8:30pm when MI New York face the Texas Super Kings.
