One Piece: The connection between Joy Boy and Emet, explained

In One Piece, Joy Boy has a strong connection to the Iron Giant, known as Emet.

Voice of All Things was first broadcast before the time jump from One pieceand was specifically mentioned by Rayleigh. Since then, this ability has slowly crept into the main story of One piece, and as things stand, it is more important now than ever. Of course, fans know that Luffy also possesses the Voice of All Things, and perhaps the main reason for the existence of this ability was just revealed to fans with One Piece Chapter 1120.

What is the voice of all things?

The Voice of All Things is an underrated tool

Voice of All Things, One Piece

The Voice of All Things is an exciting ability that fans have seen many times in One Piece. This ability was first questioned when Rayleigh was asked whether or not Roger could read Poneglyphs. Apparently, Roger reached the Final Island and uncovered the truth of the world, and this led many to believe that Roger was a reader of the Poneglyphs. However, this notion was quickly disproven by Rayleigh, the Pirate King’s former right-hand man. According to him, Roger was not a reader of the Poneglyphs. He could simply hear the Voice of All Things. Essentially, the Voice of All Things led Roger to the Poneglyphs and allowed him to hear their voice. This allowed him to understand what the stone had to say to a certain extent, but there were certainly limitations. Roger could not truly understand the true contents of the Poneglyphs. He only got a glimpse of what they were about and where they were. The decoding of the Poneglyphs fell to none other than Kozuki Oden, and fans know that Roger would never have reached the Final Island without him. Coming back to the Voice of All Things, this incredible ability has appeared in many characters in the world of One Piece.

He only heard the voice of all things. That was all. – Rayleigh

For example, Luffy is known to possess this power, as does Roger, but besides these two people, there are many others who also possess this ability. For example, Kozuki Oden, a former member of the Whitebeard Pirates and the Roger Pirates, had this ability, as did Roger. Oden’s son Momonosuke also possesses this power, but in his case, it might be something even more special, as he is the only one who can communicate with Zunisha, making him unique. At the same time, Zunisha herself is also a capable user of the Voice of All Things, as she has communicated with Momonosuke and even Luffy on many occasions. This makes this beast very special, while also giving fans another user of this mysterious ability.

There is also the case of the three-eyed tribe in One piecewho are said to naturally possess the ability to use the voice of all things. How exactly this works is unknown and also why they possess this ability remains a mystery. However, the Three-Eyed Tribe can naturally hear the voice of all things and this has a lot to do with the third eye they have on their forehead. This means this ability must be awakened by them and is not present from birth. Fans have only seen one half-blood member of the Three-Eyed Tribe and that is Pudding. Whether there is a difference between a half-blood and a full-blood member of the Three-Eyed Tribe is unknown. Regardless, they possess the ability to hear the voice of all things.

Of all things, Luffy’s use of language

Luffy has used the voice of all things on many occasions

Recently, in One Piece Chapter 1120, fans got to see another character who happened to possess the power of the Voice of All Things. That character was none other than Emet, the Iron Giant. Fans know that the Iron Giant was incredibly important in the Egghead Island arc and that he will play a very exciting role later on as well.

When you get there, please give me orders! – Zunesha

Looking back at the previous chapters where Emet was active, it now seems almost silly that fans didn’t notice that he used the voice of all things to speak. It wasn’t until chapter 1120 of One Piece that fans realized that he was actually using this ability and this was due to the fact that none of the other characters around Luffy could hear this giant speak.

Emet was obviously only speaking to Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirate was the only one who could hear him. Luffy’s communication with him through the Voice of All Things was quite fascinating and fans know there will be more to come later.

However, Luffy did not understand what was happening around him. This also means that Luffy has no control over the Voice of All Things at this point. He does not understand that he has this ability, and he certainly does not know how to properly use it in battle or how to communicate using this power. Luffy also heard the voices of the Sea Kings on the way to Fishman Island, and back then he had no idea how to use them either. On Zou, Luffy heard Zunesha’s voice again, but could not do much with it other than ask Momonosuke to order the beast to do something against Jack.

Now Luffy has heard that voice again, but he obviously doesn’t know how to use it in battle. Likewise, he doesn’t know how to use this ability to pronounce Poneglyphs. Roger was an avid user of this power and could easily tell where the Poneglyphs were and how to approach them. For Luffy, this ability is still very immature, which means he needs to work on it somehow and use it to make great progress as a pirate.

Is there a secret use of the Voice of All Things?

There are hidden applications of the Voice of All Things

As things stand, there might be a secret use of the Voice of All Things that fans didn’t know about. The Voice of All Things exists in the One piece World where users can understand animals and even inanimate objects. These objects have a voice of their own and tell their own stories. Oda introduced this ability so that Luffy could understand this voice and even command others to do something for him. For example, Emet is a creation of the people of the Old Kingdom and of course not everyone can hear his voice. This also means that not everyone can command Emet, but if someone possesses the voice of all things, they can use this power to control or command Emet.

Joy Boy in particular also possesses this power, and Luffy could easily lead Emet into battle using this power. Only someone with the Voice of All Things can communicate with her. Likewise, as fans know, one can speak to Zunisha using the power of the Voice of All Things. Not everyone can communicate with or control Zunisha. However, characters like Momo have shown the ability to do so, and if Luffy has mastered the Voice of All Things ability, then perhaps he can too. The Voice of All Things will essentially allow him to transform inanimate objects and other mystical beasts into his allies. Characters like Zunesha will be by his side in battle, and others, like the scientific creations of the people of the Old Kingdom, are sure to join him in battle as well.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read officially and for free by fans on Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1120, is set for July 14, 2024.
