Danny Ramirez could play Joaquin Phoenix’s lover in the upcoming film

Danny Ramirez has signed an exciting new contract. The actor, who has starred in films such as “Top Gun: Maverick” and the series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in a crime film.

The title and official plot of the film have yet to be released, but according to Deadlineis about two men who are passionately in love and leave California for Mexico. It is directed by Todd Haynes, who previously directed critically acclaimed films such as Carol and May December.

Haynes has described the film as a period piece. “It’s a love story between two men in the 1930s that has explicit sexual content, or at least it challenges you with the sexual relationship between these two men,” he said, according to diversity. “One is a Native American character and one is a corrupt cop in LA. They ultimately have to escape LA and go to Mexico.”

He revealed that he and Phoenix worked together on the story. “We basically wrote with him as the story writer,” he said. “Me, John Raymond and Joaquin share story credits.”

Haynes also revealed that he shot the film with some of his collaborators from May December, a film that received many nominations for prestigious awards after its release last year. He also shared that he hopes his upcoming film will be shot entirely in Mexico, where they plan to build sets that convey the authentic look of Los Angeles in the 1930s.

“And yes, we are talking to Mexican producers and co-producers. Maybe we’d like to shoot the whole thing in Mexico so we can build our ’30s Los Angeles there, expand our resources and work with the great craftsmen of Mexican cinema. That would be my dream. We hope it all works out,” Haynes said.
