Festivals, fairs and more in the Lower Hudson Valley, NY, July 12-14

As one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the country, nothing illustrates the cultural richness of the Lower Hudson Valley better than the variety of events taking place this summer.

Just last month, we celebrated Juneteenth, Pride, and the Puerto Rican Day Parade—events and celebrations that represent just a fraction of the cultures that make this region so special. Check out the festivals and fun events happening this weekend.

This annual festival features live Italian and American music and entertainment such as an outdoor dance floor, games for children, an espresso bar and an air-conditioned casino, as well as a wide selection of Italian food and desserts.

Admission to this event is free.

When: 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday, July 12; 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, July 13; 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 14.

More than 500 Native American artists, educators, singers, dancers and theater groups from across the Americas will participate in the Bear Mountain Native American Celebration at Harriman State Park. Highlights include artist booths selling crafts and jewelry, authentic cuisine such as buffalo burgers and opportunities to interact with representatives from the Lakota, Navajo, Mohawk, Seneca, Cherokee, Aztec, Mayan, Samoan, Hawaiian and many others.

A celebration of Global Climbing Day in Walhalla

The North Face and Movement Climbing Gyms have teamed up to celebrate Global Climbing Day. The local Movement Climbing Gym in Valhalla in Westchester is participating, offering free climbing, gear rentals and introductory classes.

Admission to this event is free.

Of interest From Inside Out 2 to Legos, families can have lots of fun in Lower Hudson the weekend of July 12-14

Join Piermont Village for the annual Bastille Day celebration, which celebrates French history and culture. The celebration includes a costume party, a reenactment of the Storming of the Bastille, music, food, shopping and children’s activities.

Admission to this event is free.

When: Noon to 10 p.m., Saturday, July 13. (Piermont Historical Society presentations will be from noon to 5 p.m.)

The famous street festival in Nyack

This shopping and dining event is ideal for anyone who enjoys browsing on a summer day. More than 300 exhibitors from four states bring a wide variety of goods such as handmade pottery and jewelry, garden items and home accessories, and plenty of food trucks selling everything from empanadas to Italian food to egg creams.

A neo-soul tribute concert in White Plains

R&B fans should not miss this event. The Highline String Quartet will play candlelit renditions of songs by artists such as Prince, Alicia Keys, Sade, SZA, Boyz II Men, Frank Ocean and many other neo-soul classics.
