Jomana Ali was last seen on Tuesday, July 2, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Elm Street in the City of Fairfield.

Since then, according to police, she has been considered at risk due to her age and mental health condition.

Sergeant Michael Stahl of Fairfield police said the investigation revealed that Jomana voluntarily left her home, turned off her phone’s location services and was not on social media.

Surveillance footage taken July 2 at the southbound rest area on I-195 in Fairfield showed Jomana wearing black leggings, white-soled Converse sneakers and a blue T-shirt with white lettering.

Stahl said several witnesses at the Fairfield rest area reported that Jomana approached them, expressed her desire to run away from home and was actively seeking transportation to an unknown location.

Video later showed Jomana voluntarily getting into a black Saturn Ion with Massachusetts plates. Her cellphone was briefly connected to several cell towers in New York and New Jersey on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, before it was disconnected, Stahl said.

It was later discovered that Jomana’s cellphone had been left in the back of a pickup truck parked at the Fairfield rest area on July 2.

Fairfield detectives found the phone and contacted the truck driver, who found it in the bed of his truck.

Stahl said the black Saturn was found in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday, July 5. The driver of the Saturn was also found and said they drove south on I-95 with Jomana and dropped her off at a gas station on North Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr, New Jersey.

Fairfield detectives traveled to Bellmawr, New Jersey, and while searching the area discovered surveillance footage of Jomana walking alone in the area, Stahl said.

Jomana’s last known location, where she was seen on video surveillance, was shortly after midnight on Wednesday, July 3, in the area of Ace Auto Repair at 132 N Black Horse Pike, Bellmawr, New Jersey, he added.

Jomana is described as a woman with brown hair and brown eyes, she is 1.62 m tall and weighs 63.5 kg.

Stahl added that she is believed to be in Bellmawr, New Jersey, or the surrounding Philadelphia area.

Stahl said the department is asking the public for help in locating Jomana, returning her home and ensuring she receives the care she needs.

Jomana has been entered into the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) database as well as law enforcement databases nationwide.
