I’m sick of playing John Dutton…

See you, Yellowstone

Kevin Costner has just announced his return to the role of John Dutton, which he made famous in the hugely popular television series “Yellowstone”.

The legendary actor posted an Instagram video on Thursday explaining that he will not reprise his role as Dutton in the second half of the series’ fifth season, which premieres November 10 on Paramount Network.

In his IG video, Kev said he had been working on Horizon: An American Saga for the past year and a half… until he realized it was time to move on from Yellowstone.

He added that the epic western “really changed” him and that he loved it… but he wanted to tell his fans that he “will not be returning.”

As you know, Kevin played John Dutton III for several years starting in 2018, alongside co-stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly And Cole Hauser.

During the Hollywood screenwriters’ strike in 2023, production on Season 5 of Yellowstone was put on hold and Paramount announced that it would be at least a year before the series would air again.

There is also rumors of a dispute between Kevin and the co-creator of the show, Sarah Sheridanhow many days Costner wanted to be on set, since he was also directing “Horizon” and was trying to manage his time.

But Kevin told Deadline that no matter what others say, he has “made Yellowstone the top priority and it would be wrong to suggest otherwise.”

In a recent “Today” interview, Kevin left the door open for a possible return to “Yellowstone”, Savannah Guthrie that the scripts would have to be finished if he wanted to continue.

This is obviously no longer possible and Kevin has moved on.
