The content update for the pre-expansion “The War Within™” goes online on July 23

Big changes are coming with the introduction of Warbands, Skyriding, class and system updates, and more with the pre-expansion content update.

Take part in a new event, Radiant Echoes, and take your first steps into the ongoing story that will take you into the unexplored depths of Azeroth. The war within goes live worldwide on August 26th at 3:00 p.m. PDT. Players who purchased the Epic Edition of The War Within will participate in Early Access starting August 22nd.

Visions of Azeroth

Strange visions call to the heroes of Azeroth. Players who have reached level 70 and completed the final chapter of the Dragonflight Quest line is called upon to take their next steps in the story, which is The war within with the first part of the quest series “Visions of Azeroth”.

Conquer the skies with skyriding

Dragon riding is here to stay and is available for many flying mounts in all flight-capable areas. Players can also switch between skyriding (formerly known as dynamic flight) or the flight style originally introduced in The Burning Crusade (TBC), which we call Steady Flight. Phase 4 of the Season of Discovery is now live!

Reach level 60, discover new class runes, enter the Molten Core raid dungeon to face Ragnaros, and more in the latest phase.

New world event: Blackrock outbreak

The raw power of Ragnaros’ summoning is causing turmoil in Blackrock. Players can learn more about the story behind this turmoil and participate in the recurring event and associated quests while this event is active.

This timed event occurs every 2 hours and includes the spawn of additional creatures, daily quests, and additional honor rewards from PvP in Blackrock.

Increase your standing with the Thorium Brotherhood and gain access to valuable crafting materials and other rewards.

Raid Boss Schedule

World Bosses

Experience Lord Kazzak and Azuregos as brand new instanced versions of these encounters worldwide on July 18 at 1:00 p.m. PDT. These encounters can be experienced with up to 40 players, but will be adapted as 20-player content, making them both suitable for 40-player groups, but also giving players the opportunity to maximize their rewards by attempting them with 20 players.

Molten Core and Onyxia’s Den Raid Dungeons

Prepare to face Ragnaros and Onyxia in their caves worldwide on July 25 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.

Experience Molten Core as a 20-player dungeon with 10 classic bosses (+1), reworked loot, redesigned Tier 1 sets, and more. Players can also add more excitement with a new variable difficulty mechanic, allowing players to earn more rewards at higher difficulties. Don’t forget your fire-resistant gear! You’ll need it. We’re adding yet another surprise to this classic raid dungeon for intrepid adventurers to discover.

Onyxia will also be adjusted to accommodate 40 or fewer players, and some additional loot adjustments will be made.

New Raid Lockout Interval

Raid lockouts for all raids in Stage 4 of the Season of Discovery will now occur twice weekly on static reset days. Resets will occur on Tuesdays and Saturdays for players in North America, Wednesdays and Sundays for players in Europe, and Thursdays and Mondays for players in Asia.

Rally the troops for warbands

Expand the potential of all your World of Warcraft® characters with account-wide progression on your Battle.net® account, regardless of faction – including shared reputation, a warband bank, achievements, collections, and more!

With the title The War Within, when you first log in to World of Warcraftthe Warband conversion process automatically allows many of the game’s progression systems to be account-wide. Players do not need to log into each character individually to convert all progress, items, etc. However, there may be a short wait for the system to fully process your Warband when you first log in. The Warband conversion process can take up to 20 minutes or more, and there may be a login queue depending on the amount of data being processed.

The new Warbands system is effective for all characters on a player’s Battle.net account and the items, collections, and progress they share. It is important to note that your Warband will only apply to characters within a individual region (for example, America or Europe), but spans all empires, factions, and even subscriptions you may have in that region.

The War Within: Radiant Echoes Event Overview

Face the memories of Azeroth during the new prep event and collect Remnant Memories to purchase new items for your warband collection.

When: 30 July – 26 August

Where: Dalaran (Center), Dragonblight, Dustwallow Marsh and Searing Gorge

Currency: Residual memories – Half-forgotten memories become visible in the light that plays over this iridescent powder.

Players with and without The War Within™ can participate in this event for its entire duration. For more information about this event, see our overview article.

Update to the paid character transfer service is coming

With the release of the pre-expansion content update for The War Within on July 23, we will be disabling the Paid Character Transfer (PCT) service for transfers between Battle.net® accounts.

This service can continue to be used between realms and between World of Warcraft® accounts within a single Battle.net Account. Please note that transfers between Battle.net Accounts will no longer be available after the release of the pre-expansion update. Any transfer tokens you used to transfer between Battle.net Accounts should be used before this time.
