Watch Orville Peck and Beck in the new “Death Valley High” video

But the real star for Peck and Beck is Las Vegas. “Sin City Lights, spin the wheel and roll the dice,” they sing. “Death Valley High, gonna run it like the son of the devil tonight.”

Peck has made his approach slow to Rushwhich follows his 2022 album, Broncoand a short break last year. He released an EP, Stampede: Volume 1in May. On this release, Willie Nelson duets with Peck on a cover of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other,” which Nelson had previously recorded, and Elton John sings his own “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” with Peck.

Rushwhich is out on August 2nd, includes all the songs from the first edition plus eight new tracks, including “Death Valley High.” Kylie Minogue and Diplo join him on “Midnight Ride,” and Margo Price sings “You’re an Asshole, I Can’t Stand You (and I Want a Divorce)” with him, among other highlights.

Beck is currently touring with orchestras in the US. He will conclude his tour later this month with a performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall. He also recently sang a song with Mark Lanegan, for whose first posthumous release, a reissue of chewing gum.
