Adam Levine’s return to “The Voice” stirs up past dramas

Adam Levine’s return to “The Voice” stirs up past dramas

Adam Levine is returning to The Voice as a coach for season 27. However, shortly after the news was confirmed, a report surfaced suggesting that Levine’s return might be short-lived.

“Not everyone is happy about Adam returning to the show,” a source told the Daily Mail. “There have been a lot of changes behind the scenes, but there are still a lot of people from Adam’s time who don’t agree with him returning because towards the end of his last season he was cocky, arrogant and seemed conceited,” the source continued.

“People are getting a second chance and maybe Adam will change. But if he remains the aggressive Adam he was before, they will get rid of him again,” the source added.

Heavy has reached out to Levine’s representative for comment.

Adam Levine originally left ‘The Voice’ to spend time with his family

Levine was an OG on “The Voice,” joining as a coach in the first season in 2011. He stayed for 16 seasons before exiting in 2019, telling Howard Stern that he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Since then, many “Voice” fans hoped that Levine would return to the show, but he did not show much interest.

“The moment I left, it felt really good,” Levine told Howard Stern. “I was very fortunate to be able to go through all that, but then came the point where I got married and had two children,” he explained. He and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, have since had a third child together.

In 2020, a fan asked Levine to return to the show during a Q&A on his Instagram stories.

“Come back to The Voice?” asked one of his followers.

“No, thank you?” he replied.

Fast forward to 2024: Levine is happy to be back.

“Yes, we’re back. We’re coming back. I’m coming back, that’s what I mean,” Adam said in a video posted to Instagram on June 5. “Season 27, yes, I’m coming back. I’m so excited. I can’t wait. I’m well rested, I’m ready to go, I’m a little nervous… I’m not nervous. But I’m so excited. It’s going to be great. I can’t wait. It’s going to be amazing. Here we go. Team Adam is back. I feel sorry for the other teams. Here we go. Season 27 is going to be different. Yes, I’m back. I’m really excited, guys. Voice family, here we come. Here we go,” he added.

Adam Levine is said to have been “difficult” during filming of season 16

There have been many rumors about the coaches on The Voice over the years. During Levine’s final season, TVLine reported that Levine was “difficult” to work with. After his team was eliminated, Levine no longer saw the need to be on the show – and even expressed some frustration.

As the outlet reported, those in charge at “Voice” were not particularly enthusiastic about Levine at the time.

Paul Telegdy, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, “was not happy with what he saw,” TVLine reported. A source told the outlet he was “embarrassed” and “angry” about the ordeal.

At least one source at NBC said Telegdy wanted to fire Levine. Levine’s spokesman did not comment on the report at the time.
