Evolution Gaming employees strike in Georgia

Hundreds of Evolution Gaming employees in Georgia are on strike today, July 12. The strike was initiated by Labor, the Georgian member of UNI Global Union, which organizes online dealers and game moderators through the EVO union.

Evolution Gaming Georgia employs over 7,000 people and more than 4,000 have signed up to support the strike. Employees not only want better wages, working conditions and benefits, but also to be treated with respect and dignity, which they feel is sorely lacking in the company.

At noon on July 12, the workers stopped work and joined the strike group that had already been mobilized around the company premises in Tbilisi.

The decision to strike followed an extensive legal process that included a 21-day mediation period that ended without agreement on June 25. The company received a formal strike notice three days before the strike.

UNI’s gaming sector supports the striking workers and calls on Evolution Gaming to enter into immediate and good faith negotiations with the union.

“We stand by our members in their fight for fair treatment and better working conditions,” said Giedre Lelyte, Head of Gaming at UNI. “This joint action represents a strong and united front against the issues they face. It is imperative that Evolution Gaming stop wasting time and engage in meaningful dialogue to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.”
