Chris Hayes points to “very remarkable” moment at Biden’s press conference

The “All In” host told a panel of MSNBC anchors that he found Biden’s remarks “very remarkable,” adding that they provided “insight” into his thinking amid calls for the president to prove he is up to the task of leadership or resign.

“I compared him to a star starter in the World Series in Game 7 of the World Series with four outs left in a close game where 120 pitches were made,” Hayes said.

The host noted that the baseball team “never wants to leave” when their manager approaches the mound to pull the pitcher out.

“They curse into their glove … they fight it,” Hayes said.

“For me, that was an honest articulation of where all that motivation comes from, even if he’s wrong about his own political prospects. Or he’s denying the unstoppable evolution of a mortal human being like all of us. That was eye-opening for me.”

Biden, who insisted he would continue his fight for re-election, questioned whether “democracy is in danger” in light of recent Supreme Court decisions and Project 2025 and whether former President Donald Trump “means what he says” about his plans for a second term.

“We have never seen this before and that is the only reason I did not say ‘hand over to the next generation,'” he told reporters immediately before his “closing remarks.”
