Atlanta Braves News: Series tie in Phoenix, Padres next in line and more

The Atlanta Braves ended a four-game tie with the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 1-0 score on Thursday night. Max Fried was the starter, pitching six innings and making just one error, allowing a solo home run. The Braves offense was quiet, yielding just five hits on the night.

The Braves fall to 51-41 before heading to San Diego for the final series of the first half, where they face the Padres in a three-game series. The series is scheduled to begin tonight at 9:40 ET. Spencer Schwellenbach, Reynaldo López and Chris Sale are each scheduled to start one game.

The Braves want to get back on the winning track and end the first half with a good result.

The Detroit Tigers have moved the struggling Kenta Maeda to the bullpen “for the foreseeable future.”

The Baltimore Orioles have signed right-hander Colin Selby from the Kansas City Royals for a cash consideration. He was sent to Triple-A Norfolk. Selby, 26, was recently designated for assignment by the Royals.

The Chicago Cubs have placed outfielder Cody Bellinger on the 10-day injured list with a fractured middle finger. Bellinger sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch on Wednesday.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Kevin Kiermaier on waivers. If he goes unclaimed, the Blue Jays can keep him on the 40-man roster, outright trade him, or release him.
