Eminem’s album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)”

Eminem’s album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)”

Today is a sad day as we mourn the death of Eminem’s famous alter ego in The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

Running just over an hour long, the album features 20 tracks and guest appearances from Big Sean and BabyTron, as well as production work from the likes of Dr. Dre, Luis Resto, Foulmouth, and the rapper himself, to name a few. Em’s 12th studio album sees him bid farewell to his Slim Shady persona, who was introduced to the world early on in the rapper’s career and served as his young, gruff alter ego. The Death of Slim Shady is a concept album (as the artist himself confirms, noting that the songs should be listened to in order) and almost an homage to the infamous figure who plagued pop culture for years. The lyricism combines the best of Eminem and Slim Shady, and you hear him addressing his own antics while increasing his own notoriety.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and it seems as though both of them were aware that Slim Shady could not and would not exist as a single person in this social climate. But if it’s any consolation, Slim Shady will always be a part of Eminem. Maybe he will fight his way out one day.
