Spartacus spinoff series casts 8 main roles, character details revealed

The main actors for Spartacus: The House of Ashur has been announced, with eight new faces set to appear alongside original series star Nick Tarabay. Following a “what if” premise that offers a glimpse into what could have happened had Tarabay’s Ashur not been killed on Mount Vesuvius during Spartacus – Vengeancethis new spinoff will instead see him as the master of his own gladiator ludus. Starz had originally greenlit the 10-part Spartacus Spin-off series in November 2023, with original series creator and showrunner Steven DeKnight returning.

Per DeadlineStarz has revealed Spartacus: The House of AshurThe main cast consists of eight new characters that never appeared in the original series. Tarabay will reprise his role as the scheming Ashur, now Dominus of the Ludus that once belonged to his former master Batiatus. He will also be joined by the likes of Graham McTavish (The Sorcerer), Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s legacy), Jamaica Vaughan (Home and away), Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth), Jordi Webber (Choose love), Claudia Black (The Nevers)India Shaw-Smith (The pines are still whispering) and Leigh Gill (joker).

With the original Spartacus Series that explores every possible level of Roman society, from the lowest slave of revered members of the Roman SenateThis new spinoff seems to be following suit with a wide range of new characters. McTavish, known for his gruff and domineering roles, will take on the role of Ashur’s new Doctore, Korris. A former gladiator himself, his bravery in the arena earned him his freedom. Now he takes on the role once held by Peter Mensah’s Oenomaus, training Ashur’s stable of fighters.


Other new gladiators appearing in the show include Tarchon von Weber and Satyrus von Gill, the leader of the Ferox Brothers, gladiators from the rival Ludus. The series will also feature a gladiatorAchillia, played by Davis. Ashur’s household is also completed by house slaves Hilara (Vaughan) and Messia (Baquero), who are in a love triangle with their master. Finally, Black is set to play Roman politician Cossutia, who plans Ashur’s downfall, while Shaw-Smith will play his daughter Viridia.

Starz’s revival of the legendary sandal film series, Spartacus: House of Ashur, holds a special place in the overall Spartacus timeline.


At this point, it is not yet clear whether other actors from the original series will return. Spartacus: The House of Ashur. However, given the premise of the spinoff, it’s highly unlikely that Spartacus or any of his slave conspirators would have survived execution after their capture. At the same time, it’s entirely possible that Ashur wasn’t the only character to escape death in the new spinoff, and there’s still a chance that more familiar faces like Craig Parker’s Gaius Claudius Glaber could show up.
