Yampa Valley Sustainability Council celebrates success of Insight: Art for Climate Action event, which raised over ,000

The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council announced the success of its “Insight: Art for Climate Action” event, which brought together over 230 people and raised over $63,000.

Funds raised will enhance YVSC’s programming capabilities in its five focus areas: resilient land and water, energy, transportation, waste diversion, and civic engagement.

The fundraiser took place on June 29 at the Larson Barn in Steamboat Springs and brought together over 40 artists who contributed more than 60 pieces of art inspired by the work of the YVSC. A month-long exhibition prior to the event, displayed at Steamboat Creates, allowed community members to engage with the artwork and participate in a silent auction to raise awareness and support for climate resilience.

YVSC Executive Director Michelle Stewart emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “We strongly believe in the transformative power of art to communicate science and inspire action. This event provided a unique platform for our community to participate in the important work of combating climate change. The participation and support of all artists and community members makes this powerful medium of expression possible and gives us hope for a sustainable future.”
