Search for Taylor Casey, who disappeared in the Bahamas in June, is still ongoing

Police are still searching for Chicago woman Taylor Casey, who disappeared in the Bahamas about three weeks ago.

Taylor was last seen on June 19 on Paradise Island in Nassau, where she was traveling to the Sivananda Ashram yoga retreat. The retreat confirmed Taylor’s disappearance after she failed to show up for class on June 20.

Accordingly CNNInvestigators in the Bahamas are using search dogs, marine teams and flight crews to help with the search.

However, Taylor’s family and friends are not satisfied with the authorities’ efforts to locate her.

In conversation with NBC Today, Taylor’s mother expressed her frustration with the way the investigation was handled by the Bahamian police.

“They have to act on the island as if it is their child who is missing,” said Colette Seymore Today.

She celebrates her 42nd birthday on Thursday, July 11. Her mother Colette Seymore said it was the first time they didn’t celebrate together.

“Taylor, today is your birthday and we all just want to wish you a happy birthday, even though it’s not as nice because you’re not here with us,” Seymore said.

Casey Taylor’s mother could feel the pain and grief as she read a letter to her missing daughter on what would have been her 42nd birthday Thursday.

“The pain I felt 42 years ago when you were born is nothing compared to the pain I feel today,” Seymore said.

On Thursday morning, Taylor’s family and friends celebrated with champagne outside City Hall and held a press conference calling on local elected officials to put more pressure on the Bahamas police because they had lost confidence in the integrity of the investigation.

“And that’s why we’re calling on Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth to put pressure on the State Department and tell the Royal Bahamian Police to send the FBI there immediately and find Taylor,” said Emily Williams, Taylor’s friend.

Taylor was last seen in the Paradise Island area on June 19, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a statement June 21. Casey was attending a certification retreat hosted by the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas.

On July 2 Police said Casey’s cell phone and other belongings were found in “nearby waters,” but not her passport.

NBC reported that Casey’s family believes she may have been a victim of the attack, but authorities have not commented on that possibility.
