Claudette Martineau Taylor, a longtime resident of the Gila Valley, entered into eternal life on Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2024, at her home in Safford at the age of 86, with her husband, Terrell, by her hand.

Claudette was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was very active in many callings and serving others. She was active in the Boy Scout program for decades and helped many young people become Eagle Scouts. For her years of service and leadership with the Boy Scouts of America, Claudette was awarded the rank of Silver Beaver, the highest honor a woman can receive in the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed teaching children at Dorothy Stinson Elementary School in Safford for many years. Claudette also enjoyed family history, puzzles, reading, and helping many in the community.

Claudette is survived by her husband, Terrell, of Safford; her two sons, Robert Terrell Taylor and Kent Taylor (Takayo) of Japan; her sister, Terry Lee McCaffery, of California; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Claudette was held on Thursday morning, July 11, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Thatcher Cemetery near LaMont Whetten.

The family suggests donating to the Eastern Arizona College Scholarship Foundation or planting a tree in Claudette’s memory.
