Newly signed quarterback Trae Taylor for 2027 signs NIL contract with Leaf Trading Cards

Trae Taylor has already emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle.

The 1.88 m tall and 82 kg heavy quarterback from Mundelein (Illinois) Carmel Catholic Church has received scholarship offers from Colorado, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma And Ole MissHe camped at 15 schools in June.

Taylor now has a NIL contract with Leaf Trading Cards. As a high school student in Illinois, he can monetize his name, image and likeness without losing his eligibility. Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal for On3 Steve Wiltfong has learned that it is a five-year, six-figure contract with a price tag between $100,000 and $200,000.

He is not the first top quarterback in 2027 to sign a lucrative endorsement deal with Leaf. Peyton Houston signed a deal with the brand in May that was described as life-changing. Since the introduction of NIL in college sports in the summer of 2021, trading card brands have been racing to recruit the best high school recruits.

Leaf has worked with a number of high-profile athletes over the past 30 months and signed contracts with Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava And USC Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Caleb Williams. Taylor joins USC’s quarterback contract Julian Lewis, Florida quarterback DJ LagwayQuarterback commitment for Tennessee George MacIntyre and Houston are the most recent high school additions.

The quarterback of 2027 camped at Notre-Dame in June and has the Fighting Irish at the top of his list and hopes to return for a game day visit. He told On3’s Mike Singer in June that he also wants to take game day trips to Michigan, LSU, Purdue, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Illinois, West Virginia and Iowa.

“They said they’re not going to offer a 2027 quarterback until three games into our sophomore year,” Trae Taylor told Singer about Notre Dame’s offer. “They said they fully expect me to be one of the quarterbacks they’re going to offer.”

“It would mean the world to me if I got this offer.”
