Michigan State football players’ representatives announced for Big Ten Media Day

It’s that time of year again, Michigan State football fans.

Even though the season is still a few weeks away, it’s already July on the calendar and that means Big Ten Media Day is almost upon us.

This year will feel a little different with Mel Tucker missing and a new head coach taking over, but Jonathan Smith will represent the program and the school really well. It was time for a change and the Spartans hired a really good coach.

While Smith will of course answer all questions about the rivalry, the new job and the expectations for 2024 on media day, he will be accompanied by some of his players.

On Thursday, Michigan State announced which three players will join Smith in Indianapolis.

Nate Carter, Dillon Tatum and Jack Velling will be with Smith at Lucas Oil Stadium on July 24 to represent Michigan State and speak to the media about the upcoming season.

All three also bring a different perspective. Tatum has been with the program for years and is now its second head coach so he knows Michigan State as well as anyone, Carter transferred last season and went through the portal period, and Velling transferred as well but that was this offseason and he hasn’t played a game with the Spartans yet. Three unique perspectives make this trio a fascinating subject for the media.

It will be interesting to hear what each of them has to say about expectations for the upcoming season.
