Two North Texas residents win $1 million in lottery

Two North Texas residents win million in lottery

Luck was on North Texas’ side, as residents from Plano and Allen came forward to claim substantial lottery prizes.

A Plano resident who wished to remain anonymous won a Mega Millions prize worth $1 million after the July 2 drawing, according to a Texas Lottery press release. The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 17605 Midway Road in Dallas. In addition to this unexpected win, the person secured an additional $4 with the same ticket. The winning Quick Pick ticket had all five white numbers drawn (4-8-19-31-45), but not the Mega Ball number (11).

An Allen resident has also won a $1 million grand prize in the Texas Lottery’s Million Dollar Loteria scratch-off game. The ticket was purchased at Racetrac at 371 Stacy Road in Fairview. Like the Plano winner, the Allen resident has chosen to remain anonymous.

The Million Dollar Loteria game offers an incredible $384 million in total prizes, with the overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 3.29, including break-even prizes. This top prize claimed by the Allen resident is the first of 10 $1 million prizes offered in the game.

Mega Millions, known for its high jackpots, requires selecting five numbers from a pool of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a separate set of 25. All six numbers must be correct to win the jackpot, but sizable prizes are also awarded for fewer correct numbers, such as the second prize of $1 million for the Plano resident.

Players can boost their non-jackpot winnings with the Megaplier feature, which multiplies winnings by two, three, four or five times for an additional dollar per play. This enhancement can boost non-jackpot winnings up to $5 million. Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT.
