New video captures Riley Strain’s final moments shortly before his disappearance and death

A recently released surveillance video offers a brief glimpse into Riley Strain’s final night, showing the drunken 22-year-old frat student being escorted out of a Nashville bar shortly before his disappearance.

The footage – obtained by News Channel 5 Nashville – shows the shaky University of Missouri student walking down the exit steps of country music star Luke Bryan’s bar, where staff had issued a warning about him being aggressive toward employees.

Strain is escorted by a bouncer, but appears to be going along willingly. As the video shows, he even appeared to laugh at one point as he stumbled down the stairs.

Strain then disappeared into the Tennessee night.

Two weeks later, his body was pulled from the Cumberland River about 8 miles downstream. The autopsy revealed that he had died accidentally by drowning or intoxication.

Strain was exceptionally drunk when he disappeared on March 8. The young man’s autopsy report revealed that his blood alcohol level was almost 0.3 per mille, more than three times the legal limit.

According to the coroner’s report, his blood also contained THC – the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Another surveillance camera caught him stumbling down a Nashville street after being thrown out of the bar.

Many initially suspected a crime. But the coroner concluded that his death was an accident.

Strain, who was visiting the state capital with his fraternity brothers, told friends he would meet them at their hotel about five blocks away.

But his friends never heard from him again and called the police the next day.

During the investigation, a number of signals from the missing man’s mobile phone as well as surveillance recordings of his final moments were found.

A local homeless man also told police that he saw a man who resembled Strain and was “very, very drunk” nearly fall over a railing into the Cumberland River.
