The most important goal for 2025 is set

Bryson Williams, the top prospect for the Michigan State University football team for 2025, is preparing to announce his decision on Thursday night.

Some of you reading this may already be aware of the decision for Michigan State University’s top 2025 football athlete Bryson Williams due to the short turnaround time. On Thursday morning, Williams tweeted that he would announce his college commitment later that evening at 7 p.m. ET.

With official visits completed in June, Williams is the final top target for Jonathan Smith this summer. Michigan State’s recruiting strategy for the first year under the new regime was clear: recruit in-state players who are attainable and undervalued, and build a strong foundation for the 2026 cycle, where the staff can take more chances on higher-ranked players.

Williams is a 6’2″, 200-pound hybrid athlete from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and is rated as a three-star player according to 247Sports’ Composite. If he chooses the good guys tonight, he would join teammates Jayden Savoury and Charles White as the third St. Mary’s junior in the class of 2025.

On paper, Williams is projected to be a ball carrier in East Lansing, and he shares the team’s vision of using him in a hybrid role between running back and wide receiver, similar to how the San Francisco 49ers use Deebo Samuel.

Williams is a smart kid who is also being courted by Harvard, Rice and Pitt. He has decided to move up his original commitment date of July 2 because he is struggling with his decision. He is clearly thinking a lot about where he wants to play at the next level.

As things currently stand, it appears to be a battle between Michigan State and former defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi at Pitt. The Panthers won the last recruiting battle between the two schools, landing four-star safety Elijah Dotson from Belleville. However, MSU had the final say, as East Lansing was Williams’ last official visit in June.

I’ll tell you what: If a Deebo Samual-type player decided to play in East Lansing, it would be a great capstone to high school recruiting this summer.
