Sunsteel Strike or Moongeist Beam in Pokemon Go: Which Adventure Effect is Better?

The advent of Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma in Pokémon Go made way for two new Adventure Effects: Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam.

In Pokémon Go, players can activate Adventure Effects outside of battle, as these powerful attacks grant temporary bonuses that enhance the action in unique ways.

The newest effects of this type include Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam. Since Necrozma fused with Solgaleo and evolved into Dusk Mane Necrozma, it can now use Sunsteel Strike.

In addition, a Necrozma fused with Lunala created a Dawn Wings Necrozma that could use the Moongeist Beam.

But is one Necrozma-focused adventure effect better than the other?

Benefits of the Sunsteel Strike Adventure Effect in Pokemon Go

Reserved for Dusk Mane Necrozma, the The Sunsteel Strike effect can be activated with 3 Necrozma Candy and 3,000 Stardust.

The Effect uses the power of sunlight for 10 minutesattracts Pokémon that appear at the player’s location during the day – it essentially works like incense.

In addition, Pokémon that only evolve during daylight hours will evolve at any time as long as this special adventure effect remains active.

With a bit of luck, you might even see a Rockruff that can evolve into Lycanroc’s evening form.

Some of the Pokémon Trainers may encounter when using Sunsteel Strike include:

• Taubsi
• Alolan Exeggutor
• Sun skirt
• Cotton fabric
• Helioptile
• Tyrunt
• Yungoos
• mushroom
• Fomantis

Specifically, by using more Stardust and Necrozma Candy, players can extend the Sunsteel Strike timer in 10-minute increments. Up to two hours can be added each time trainers press the “Use” button, with the timer able to be extended up to 24 hours.

Benefits of the Moongeist Beam Adventure Effect in Pokemon Go

Dawn Wing Necrozma has the Moongeist Beam, which trainers can activate with 3 Necrozma Candy and 3,000 Stardust.

Similar to Sunsteel Strike, this Effect uses the power of moonlight for 10 minutes and attracts Pokémon that appear at night to the player’s location.

Pokémon that only evolve at night will evolve at any time as long as the Moon Spirit Beam effect remains active.

If trainers are lucky, they may also encounter a Woofle that can evolve into the Lycanroc’s evening form.

Trainers can find the following Pokémon when using Moongeist Beam, among others:

• Alolan Rattata
• Peepee
• Alolan-Knokko
• Hey there
• Galarian Zigzagoon
• Lunatone
• Munna
• Amaura
• mushroom

Similar to Sunsteel Strike, players can extend the Moongeist Beam’s timer by 10-minute increments when using additional Stardust and Necrozma Candy. Pressing “Use” will add up to two hours of extra time, a trick that can stack up to 24 hours.

Which adventure effect is better – Sunsteel Strike or Moongeist Beam?

When choosing the adventure effect you want to invest in, Pokemon Go players should only consider their personal preferences.

Both Adventure Effects provide the same benefits, but users encounter different Pokémon (except Rockruff) when the effects are active.

Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam are subject to the same restrictions, as users cannot use them while using another adventure effect, incense, daily adventure incense, a mystery box, or a coin pouch.
