Motorcycle accident in fog, driver injured in southwest Michigan

On July 11, a motorcycle accident occurred in Cass County, police said. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

CASS COUNTY, MI – A motorcyclist was injured in a crash in the fog, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Police responded to the crash at 6:32 a.m. Thursday, July 11, on M-62 near Brick Church Road in Jefferson Township.

The investigation revealed that a 56-year-old man from South Bend was cornering on his motorcycle when he lost control in foggy conditions and the motorcycle came to rest on the sidewalk.

He was taken to Borgess Lee Dowagiac Hospital for his injuries from the accident.

The sheriff’s office sent a photo showing a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle on the road after the accident.

The Cassopolis Fire Department and Southwest Michigan Community Ambulance Services assisted the sheriff’s office. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
