Love Island USA doubles streaming for season 6

EXCLUSIVE: It seems as if Peacock has a bomb in its hand with the new season of Love Island USA.

Season 6 drew an unprecedented audience for the American version of the popular reality dating series after its premiere on June 11. According to Nielsen, in the week of June 24-30, Love Island USA was the most watched streaming reality series in the USA

During this period, the series was viewed 434 million times, ranking seventh among streamed originals for the week.

Nielsen streaming data is reported with a delay, so this data does not include streaming in July. Love Island USA will release new episodes every day except Wednesdays until July 21, giving the show plenty of opportunity to continue growing its viewership.

According to NBCUniversal, streaming for this season of Love Island USA was doubled compared to previous seasons.

Love Island USA moved to Peacock for season 4, receiving a two-season order from the streamer after moving from CBS. While the first few seasons performed moderately for CBS and brought the network a younger audience, it was never able to replicate the success of its British counterpart on linear television.

Even after moving to Peacock, Love Island USA seems to be performing quite modestly, but it’s difficult to get data on this since streamers generally don’t self-report their viewership numbers.

It is not entirely clear what this new-found interest in Love Island USAbut a new host might have something to do with it. Vanderpump Rules This season, star Ariana Madix took over the hosting duties and undoubtedly won over a portion of the Bravo audience for the series.

Moderated by Madix and narrated by Iain Stirling, Love Island USA is filmed in real time from Fiji. New episodes air weekly Thursday through Tuesday, available at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
