The title was officially announced yesterday

A new game has been announced that explores the reality-warping nature of portal and the stealth mechanics from Metal Gear Solid.

“A former military legend is called on a mysterious mission to rescue a captured scientist and uncover the truth behind a cataclysmic event. The mission assigned to him by mysterious architects is shrouded in uncertainty as some doors in the uncharted territory lead to unpredictable and dangerous destinations. Each door reveals new secrets and challenges, and he must navigate this treacherous landscape and discover what awaits him behind each threshold to complete his mission and uncover the hidden truths,” developer Motion Blur told IGN.

In case you missed it: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is on the way very soon.

The trailer for the title shows the title’s protagonist attacking enemies with a knife while running through doors that lead to seemingly random locations. One door leads directly from what appears to be a train compartment to a modern military base, and it’s likely that this only scratches the surface of what the game hopes to achieve on a technical level. Developed in Unreal Engine 5, it’s likely that Black State wants to cross some boundaries to showcase the technology on display.

“Of course we love the Metal Gear Solid series. While working on our extensive, nearly 500-page game design document for 2.5 years, we constantly admired games like The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, and many others that push the boundaries of development and game mechanics. Inspired by these influences, our small team strives to deliver the highest quality of development and exceptional game mechanics despite our limited size. We strive to create rich and deep storytelling combined with engaging game mechanics to deliver an immersive and memorable gaming experience. Our goal is to push our limits and give players the best possible experience we can offer,” developer Motion Blur told IGN when asked about the inspirations behind the game.

At the time of writing, there is no release window, but we will keep an eye on the progress of this project.
