There are some things that are best left alone, and one of them is a very tense A-list celebrity watching a nail-biting football match. Case in point: Adele, who was in the crowd at England’s match against the Netherlands in Dortmund last night.

In fact, this Tottenham-born A-list player was so tense that clips of her reaction to Harry Kane’s penalty inevitably went viral on social media, with users praising her for shouting “Shut up” to the crowd as they watched her team’s captain score a penalty in the first half of the match.

In fact, this year’s European Championship league, played in cities across Germany and featuring teams that won the 2020 tournament, seems to have turned even the most unlikely among us into football fans.

Prince William rose to prominence with his theatrical reaction to England’s quarter-final penalty shootout win over Switzerland, and his reaction became a meme that was widely shared on social media. Shortly after the match ended, the heir to the throne posted a message on the Instagram account he shares with his wife Kate Middleton. “Nail biting until the end. Well done @England! We’re going to the semi-finals! We believe in it.” The tweet was signed simply with “W,” as is his family custom.
